Y a d a k a l a   (May 2009)

This body of work is an attempt to capture the emotional landscapes of the process of creation.  From head to heart to hands, the paintings are like a mirror, an honest and unflinching reflection of my shifting emotional states.

Yada means 'when' in Sanskrit and Kala means 'art'.  I like the open ended-ness of that statement....  When art does what?  When art is what?  When art speaks to me, when art haunts me, when art teaches me, when art.....

..........finds me.  I've named the paintings in Sanskrit because something sacred, elusive and later reclaimed resonated with me for this series.
